Ready Steady Go Kids is Australia’s leading multi-sport program for children aged 1.5-6 years. We currently run classes at over 210 locations across Australia, and many more internationally. Our physio-designed program teaches children the fundamentals of 10 different sports and develops essential motor skills in a fun, non-competitive environment.
Each term, 5 sports are taught in 2 week blocks which is considered sufficient time to introduce and reinforce the basic concepts and motor patterns. By rotating the sports every 2 weeks we also decrease the likelihood of children becoming disinterested in a particular activity. At the end of the term the sports are rotated at every location. The table below details the sports included in our program and the order in which they are taught.
All equipment used in the Ready Steady Go Kids program has been specifically designed and modified to ensure age appropriateness, reliability and safety.
Our program objectives are as follows:
Introduce preschoolers to a variety of sports in a structured, safe, inclusive and non-competitive environment.
Show preschoolers that sport and physical activities are fun, thus developing a lifelong passion for exercise.
Develop and enhance age-appropriate gross motor skills, coordination and correct posture.
Introduce and reinforce the importance of warm-up and stretching to help prevent injuries, and proper hydration.
Teach the importance of good sportsmanship and teamwork.
Decrease childhood obesity.
Increase each child’s confidence.
Prepare children for school and participation in the broader community.
Each Ready Steady Go Kids class is run indoors for a duration of 45 minutes, and we cover five sports per term.
Our classes are designed to focus on a specific gross motor, hand-eye/foot-eye and/or balance activity to complement the sport component and our program structure is repeated each week so that participants become familiar and comfortable with the routine.
To ensure that every participant receives a high level of attention and support, we maintain a low instructor to student ratio. Our instructors have (as a minimum) a Level 1 Coaching qualification under the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme from the Australian Sports Commission, a current working with children check and extensive experience in teaching preschool-aged children.
We invite and encourage parental participation in our classes, and — trust us — parents love our classes as much as the kids!
Delivering a combination of physical and emotional benefits, the Ready Steady Go Kids program is designed to build confidence and self-esteem, providing a platform of knowledge and boosting school readiness skills.
Our program was designed by a paediatric physiotherapist and occupational therapist. It aims to enhance children's gross and fine motor skills, encourage their continued participation in sports and prepare them for the early school years.
We teach 10 different sports which helps children develop a broad range of skills, builds a platform of sporting knowledge and the variety ensures continued interest in the program.
Small class sizes
Class capacities range from 10-14 children and have a maximum of 1:7 instructor to student ratio. This means more attention for your child and better learning outcomes.
All classes are held indoors
Rain, hail or shine - our classes are never cancelled in bad weather. With an indoor environment you can be certain that every class will always go ahead as scheduled.
Our program incorporates basic counting and colour concepts, encourages team work and sportsmanship, builds social skills and develops listening skills and concentration. All of which improves your child's preparation for school.
The "feel good factor"
Children develop greater self-confidence, enhanced self-esteem and a real sense of achievement, all of which shape their physiological well-being.
